GDRs {groundhog day resolutions}

so phil saw his shadow this am. . . 6 more weeks of winter.  since our winter is averaging about 47 degrees, i'm not too bent out of shape about this.

but the "holiday" has me thinking about the movie groundhog day and how sometimes my life truly feels like the same ol' thing . . . every. day.

so i started to ponder what i could do to make the routine a little brighter than the majority of phil conners' stay in punxsutawney.

i preset to you: my GDRs {groundhog day resolutions}

1. for starters, it would be great to get these kids out. of. diapers.  i mean my quality of life would sky-rocket if it didn't involve changing dirty diapers.
foul.
we bought this today.  i'm hoping C & P  have respect for the classics.
{btw, i will never ever mention potty training again on this blog.  i hate myself for doing it but i have to be honest about my GDRs}

2.  i know i'd be the happiest me if i could make it to bikram yoga daily.  that is not going to happen at this stage of my life but if i can make it there once or twice a week, it will totes make a difference.  i just went back after a 5 year hiatus and i'm loving to hate it.
best.  torture.  evah.

3.  i've mentioned this before, but i'd really like to have fresh flowers in my house every week.  not a big expense with a huge return.

4.  i need to walk george & looloo more.  being the cray cray dog lady that i am, this is one of my greatest joys and i just don't make it happen enough.

{preferably on nantucket like this picture.  ha}

5.  and i must write in my one line a day journal.  i bought it before the start of 2011 and i am loving reading what i was up to on the day exactly one year prior.  you have to get this!  everyone can make time for one freaking line a day, right?

it helps me realize that i'm not stuck in groundhog day at all.
although the differences don't seem huge from day to day, my lil munkies are growing and changing right before my eyes,  new friendships are blossoming,  old friendships are deepening,  my marriage is maturing, my business is challenging me, life is happening people! {no matter how many episodes of dora i have on a day}
 . . .  hmmm. . . deep thoughts by lil hoot on a gloomy thursday afternoon.

happy groundhog day, everyone.  do you have any GDRs?

ranunc helps the funk

it's a rather cold & blustery day and not much going on this time of year in terms of flowers on the landscape.
i was sulking my way through the grocery store the other day when i came upon some gorge bunches of ranunculus for 8.99 a pop.  and i had read recently somewhere that people who purchase flowers are some percentage happier than people who spend their money elsewhere {totes botching this statistic but my takeaway told me to buy. obvs.}
and they do make me happy.

oh, also, i've been attempting to exercise lately {NOT my strong suit}
so obvs i'm hungry and this cake caught my eye while i was admiring images of ranunculus.

purty.
and i bet yummy.
now bundle up and go buy some fleurs, people.  lil hoot's orders ;)

"i like pink" . . . "i like yellow"

this is the ongoing debate in our house right now.  heavy stuff.  p likes pink and c likes yellow and they feel the need to discuss this at length . . . all.  day.  long.

i think they've subliminally been effecting my purchases lately.

here are a few pink AND yellow additions to 14 bowden street.
first up, ferarri lemon wall art for the dining room from wisteria.  love-love!

our dining room is painted ben moore's palladian blue which i think might be the same color as the wall in the catalog.   the pink and yellow really pop against it.  wor-ship.

i also used palladian blue at 50% on the play room ceiling against a yellow and white stripe.

oh look, more pink and yellow!

i love how c& p's custom magnetic boards from lake house designs turned out.

just added these these yellow coral kaarskoker candle sleeves to our chandelier for a touch more yellow in the dining room.  candle sleeves are one of my fave ways of adding some fun to a room.  so many adorbs colors and patterns.

i also have the pink dot sleeve in the play room which are on sale now.  {see playroom pic #1}

another yellow addition to the dining room are these awesome DVF napkin holders.  love-love!

sooooo, the pillow project is still not done {the best things come to those who wait, right?}
here's an oversized custom lumbar pillow for the center of the couch.  it's totes my new baby and if anyone tries to actually use it as a pillow, i will freak out on them. {ha}
  i'll share more when the final two arrive.  soon. . . yay!

so i'm going to put off putting c& p in beds for as long as humanly possible. . . seriously.  i can't even fathom letting those lil munkies have free reign.  in the meantime, i have lots of time to plan the "big girl" room.

just came across this idea in a real simple article about re-purposing. . .
a tutu nightstand!
perf for my girly girl, p.

will have to balance it out with something not so frilly for miss c.  but she'd be thrilled if the walls were yellow! {totes not happening}

perhaps i should just copy horchow's use of serena & lily's bedding . . .  of course i'll have to stop spending money on pillows if that's the case.
glorious.

enjoy the sunshine, everyone!

and feel free to bring me some flowers that look like this for my dining room table . . .

swoooooooon.

i have to go split up an argument now. . .i think they are both right.  what do you think?  pink or yellow?
