just beachy

we just barely survived a heat spell in the northeast- the kind of weather when you step out of the shower, you immediately need another one.  we all decided we need more dresses for the next heat wave/series of beach parties.

{i'm tempted to buy #8 just to see horseface's reaction if i went all mrs. roper on his ass.}

what. a. weekend.

once again, i find myself short a few thousand  brain cells on a monday morning.  this past holiday weekend was a "doozie" {as cousin ty would say}

it was mostly about celebrating america  mike o.  {you may remember this animal from the G party?}
we started the festivities off with a bang at mike's surprise 40th on wednesday night.  complete with kareoke and tropical drinks.

which made the next morning's horribles parade that much more horrible.
every year it gets hotter and we seem to get more hungover.  but again, at least the kids despise enjoy it.

this much fun should be illegal!  right, kids?

later that day, we headed out on scrimshaw for some more cocktails and fireworks.  kiddos are at a great age for the fireworks.  this seemed to make up for the child abuse  fun times at the parade that occurred in the am.

the thursday fourth sorta kills me.  i mean, it felt like monday, but it was only FRIDAY.  eff, actually this was saturday?  i lost an entire day somewhere?  anyhoot, on saturday we ventured out on elihu.  we picked up two of our fave people in manchester {they were in town for a wedding} for a trip to sand dollar cove.
while out on the water, we spied rambler, in town for the halifax race.  rambler is owned by my former boss george david.  guy is legit.  seriously.  google him.  too bad his boat is so small.

are you bored yet?  because the weekend is only half over.  saturday night was the party mike o had planned for himself while he was moping around the two weeks prior to his surprise party, thinking no one cared it was his birthday.  this worked out for everyone because saturday night was amaze.  everyone brought it to the next level, mike o style.  here's a pics of some of the ladies of the evening.

{that's me keeping it real with a burger in my hand. foul.}
excellent times.

and yesterday i was a complete bag of crap tired gal, so CBC took girls on the boat without me.  and then we headed over to celebrate juney's 2nd birthday.
both my cameras and my brain were pretty much dead by this point but here's a shot of the birthday girl.

seems like just yesterday we were sipping & seeing this beauty {thx MW}

so in conclusion, happy birthday mike o and sweet baby june - you two may be 38 years apart but i see a similar fire in your eyes. . . and i like it.

and happy birthday, america.  you dominate.

and dear friday, what happened to you?  perhaps it's best i don't know.

guest room re-do

we are expecting some fabulous summer guests in the next couple months so trying to spruce up chez crawford's second guest room.
{which isn't easy because horseface is being a cheap bastard slightly difficult}

which option do you like?

happy birthday, ashy!

truly cannot imagine my life without this one having been born.

happy birthday, sissy!

bundle boondoggle

in the past i've given horseface a hard time for 'bundling' my birthday and anniversary gifts.  he apparently does not care because he continues to do it.  this year, the birthday-anni-bundled-gift-trip was off to a rocky start when we watched the grey lady disembark from the hy-line terminal . . . without us.  but it was the beginning of our trip not going according to plan, yet going even better than we probably could have planned.

starting with hopping on the "slow" boat, hy-line style, aka the great point.  has anyone ever been on this?  i'm hesitant to let this secret out, as it's quite a glorious way to get to nantucket.  horseface bought us "first class" tickets {for same cost as the high speed} and even tho the boat ride was twice as long, it was full of couches and table seating, and best of all, like 5 other pax.  it was basically a booze cruise all to ourselves.  no racing for a seat or waiting in line for anything.  recommend.

a few days before we left, CBC had let where we were staying slip {ahem, told me after i asked 750 times}.  the new 76 main.  place looked legit and i was pumped.

adorbs, right?
one teeny problemo.  it's not open yet.  BUT gracious hoteliers kate & scott called CBC on friday to let them know they had made arrangements on our behalf over at the white elephant residences {at the 76 main rates}.  and they were terribly sorry for the inconvenience.  and by inconvenience they meant THIS:

we thoroughly enjoying basking in the lap of luxury at the white elephant and furthermore can not wait to show our patronage at 76 main when they are ready for us!  huge respect and gratitude for what they did.  thank you!

other highlights of the trip . . . cru . . . for 3 meals {yikes}

can you blame us?

AND we also had the pleasure of dining at the new restaurant, the proprietors, from the same peeps who brought us American seasons, a fave.

It was only their second night open for business and everything was so yummy.  love-love the atmosphere and cannot wait to go back, and i'm anticipating it will get even better. {horseface and hands were a teeny bit jammed up about the slow service since there was a certain game on but they were great sports . . . no pun intended}

ahhh. . . what else?  we squeezed a lot in and this is getting boring.
a few rando shots below but my piece of shiz phone kept dying.

ventuno back bar, boarding house, space,  rando champers deliveries from new friends, ducklings, straight wharf, sunshine, stubby's, milly & grace, fireflys, juice guys {doug's special smoothie recipe}, brewery, "lunch" from dupree & co., supermoon, island creek oyster fest {doh! may or may not have blacked out had a great time at this event}, qt with brothers meagher . . . all of these activities may explain why i feel like i'm 108 today.  womp.  oh well, always worth it. . . .

and of course the highlight of the trip was time spent with the ash, there's even a teeny bit more of her to love these days.

i haven't loved a bump this much since '08.

oh and big thanks to the bundler for everything.
