frenchie friday: i need 50 naps because of grey

i need a nap.  too many margs followed by late-night reading.  whaaaa?  that just doesn't add up, you say.  trust me, i wasn't planning on having a book hangover either.  but everyone and their perverted mom is talking about 50 shades of grey, so i decided to give it a whirl when i got home from the GNO.  it JUST started getting good at 3 am when i had to call it a night.
word on the street is that it gets OOC.  did y'all read it yet?

anyhoot, i need a nap.  hence why i am repeating myself and babbling . . . and writing words like 'y'all' . . .

swooooooon.
{cue the yawning}

TGI-GNO

headed to red lulu with all my glorious bitches to celebrate three special spring birthdays tonight.
i'm a tough critic when it comes to mexican cuisine as my sister and her husband own milagro in stonington, ct.

best. mexi. evah.

but i like red lulu.  they have yummy margaritas . . . served in pitchers!

and that's right. . . they have cotton candy, too.

but let's be careful, ladies . . .

wedding wednesday: GRAMPS

i've been procrastinating posting this week because i wanted to mention the passing of my dear gramps, and i thought the "right" words would just come to me. . . not so much.  it's wednesday and i've come to the realization that i could never ever begin to sum this man up in a blog post.  so i'll probably just mention him from time to time.  i bet you won't mind a bit.

there are hundreds upon hundreds of pics of Gramps to choose from . . . usually with a martini and cigar in hand.  obvs.

but this next one is one of my faves.
i love so many things about it.  i love that he is petting a cute pup and that my mom's smiling eyes are peeking out from behind him.  what you can't see is my grandmother's growing preggers belly {twinkies! one of them ashy's mom - born that august}
what i love most is how happy they look when they lived on a farm with next to nothing.  my mom always says those were some of the happiest days of her life.
{next post will be about his rock star years . . . about 65 of them}

gramps always made the best of everything- his one-liners trumping all.
the man had a million of them.  in recent years when i'd ask how he was doing he'd simply respond  'i'm not buying any green bananas'

it was his time but i'm still a bit heartbroken. . . also so very very grateful that i have so many memories with this absolute charmer.
in honor of Gramps and wedding wednesday here are a couple shots from our wedding day.

his brood.

i'd like another spin on the dance floor with gramps . . .someday.

btw, he only liked two kinds of music, "country & western".  i kid you not, a MILLION of 'em. . .

frenchie friday: welcome C.C. or Pippa!?

so my BFF from college, jess, has always had phenom taste  {and lucky for her roommates she's also very generous and always opened up her bountiful closet to us. thanks, lady! }
and she created this mum's day gift guide for lil hoot last year. . . but she's outdone herself this time.  she's the proud new mama, of this precious angel.

I. DIE.

she's so spankin' new to the fam that they haven't even decided on a name yet.
What do you guys think?

is she a C.C. {short for chubby cheeks fantastic} or a pippa {short for pippa middleton.  obvs.}

whatever she is i cannot wait to sniff her precious puppy paws.  best. smell. evah.

congrats, P fam!  you're about to see a lot more of the C fam. . .

real life party with heart: may's fab 4th!

so c & p are blessed with some pretty special friends.  yup, still at the age where we can force 'em to hang with our BFFs kiddos so birthday parties are actually fun for us, too {i.e. there is booze involved}  we were lucky enough to have TWO fabulous parties in the last couple of weeks.
first up: may's fab 4th!

lil hoot fave, nancy-pants, has blessed us with her gift guides and her daughter may's awesome circus party last year and she outdid herself this time with may's beatle-themed bash. you may have caught on that i love all things puntastic and nancy made sure there was no shortage of puns, clever deets, or yummy treats.  see for yourself!

how adorbs are these yellow submarines?  nancy always does a fantastic job involving the kiddos - these were make your own!

i think i ate every last piggie in this pic.  so yummy.  {shhhh, don't tell junk!}

gift bags that were filled with even more puntastic favors that i forgot to capture on film.  womp.

maccy- the next birthday boy in line. . .

pin the moustache on the beatle

CD covers

aforementioned booze

marzipan yellow submarine cupcake toppers

there were soooo many more amazebalz deets- it was impossible to capture them all {while stuffing face with pigs in a blanket, that is}

last but most certainly not least - the birthday girl!

and a few words about her from her very eloquent mama.  an idea i ripped off from the fabulous meredith nelson, and then nancy did, too.  you know what they say, mere-  you should feel very flattered :)

My effervescent May Sawyer is four years old today!

(I totally stole this brilliant idea from Meredith Nelson and I had to share, being the proud mama that I am.)

A little bit about you, May, at this moment in time:

1) you sparkle. Your smile takes over your entire face. It did even when you were a baby.

2) you inherited your father's inability to whisper, his quick wit and the fact that nothing gets past you. You also have his eyes.

2) you inherited my anxiety and fears (sorry) and potty mouth (sorry again) but you also inherited my compassion. You hate seeing people sad and will often say, "please put a smile on your face."

3) you love the Beatles. You are very sad that John and George died and you like to talk about it in the car every day. You also want to visit the surviving Beatles in England and bring them chocolates in ziplock bags.

4) you cannot pronounce spaghetti (ska-betty) and nutella (tune-ella) and I wish that you never do.

5) nothing goes unnoticed, "Ernie and Kermit have the same voice"

6) you are terrified of the Easter Bunny but the idea of an Easter Monkey is okay to you.

7) you have mostly boy friends and love hockey, cars, diggers and skateboards. You do appreciate sparkles however and declared that you're "now into pink."

8) when you were two, you wore froggy boots 80 percent of the year. When you were three, it was all about red cowboy boots. What will four bring?

9) you tell me how much you love Lolly as you strangle her and push on her soft spot.

10) You collect rocks everywhere we go... Even in our driveway. You will either be a geologist or a hoarder when you grow up.

11) When you tell a story you get shifty eyes and a deep voice.

Everything started making sense when you entered our lives. You are amazing. Happy Birthday my darling girl!

thanks for sharing your brilliant ideas and your wonderful daughter, nancy-pants!  may is one lucky gal and we are lucky to be a part of your fab soirees.  i think your party was only missing one thing . . . bunny plates.  obvs.

wedding wednesday: totes love love totes

in one month from today one of my besties is trying the knot to her bestie.  i'm thrilled to stand beside them and also having a bit of fun helping out along the way.  she's not letting me help too much {typical of the most generous gal i know} but we are currently working on the welcome bags.
if i didn't love this type of thing myself i'd tell her to hire love totes.
we all know i totes love the word totes. so i really love the company love totes.
they create adorbs custom welcome bags and hand deliver in new england and other cities . . . and ship
nationwide . . .

cute, right?

i also totes heart any company that uses the nelly font.  you know who you are.

target tuesday: mara-mi

had the wee ones in tow when we hit up target yesterday.  all three of us were thrilled to stumble upon this mara-mi for target display.

hey pink & yellow adorb-ness, where were you last november?
this cute partyware would have come in handy for C & P's pink & yellow party
{not to mention the nifty gifty bags, cards, and gift wrap.}

confession: i'm a full-on greeting card hoarder. mostly because i buy them with the best intentions and never motivate to mail them.  anyhoot, some new ones for my collection made it home yesterday.

 if i could send target a card, it would say this:

but they already have it.  obvs.
