owl take two: newborn edition

so laying eyes on teeny weeny precious outfits are pretty much one of the best parts of attending baby showers . . .
take anything and shrink it and it looks adorbs but when it comes to dressing your own little bundle,  the best on your little ones will be the most comphy. . .
here are a few of my very fave brands for the wee-est of ones - uber-cute AND super comphy. . .
kissy kissy is a great option - grab these precious outfits at saks.

petit bateau is my absolute fave - sooooo soft and classic, to boot.  usually quite the splurge but i found these cuties at zappos on sale now! (love-love the velour polkas!)

ummm. . . can you think of a better gift from lil hoot. . . whoooo wouldn't want their newborn in one of these sweet pink chicken outfits?  pink chicken also has a pretty kick*ss collection for the "big girls". can't believe i have big girls!
 swoooon.

i was sooooo lucky to receive some of these goodies for my own sweet babes when they were newborns. . . i'm in the process of having two of mostest favoritest framed for the girls room.  the teeny tiniest petite bateau outfits. my girls were 4.10 and 5. 2 at birth and only fit in these terry bunny outfits for a couple of weeks.  as some of you know, C. was in the NICU for 22 days (it's no wonder she's such a drama queen). when she finally graced our home she wore the stripes and her sister was at home waiting for her in the coordinating bunnies - so they have special significance to us.  {of course at that point it certainly didn't matter what the sweet child was wearing!  we just wanted her where she belonged}

look how happy the little mushface is to be home.

plus, i just never want to forget how teeny tiny they were, especially when they are teenagers torturing me.  so stay tuned for the finished product to be hung in the 'big girl' room!

happy weekend- can't wait to celebrate miss L. tomorrow and baby boy F. on the way!

hoot hoot! party time! baby shower edition

frenchie love: puppy edition

since we are talking about babies this week- thought i'd take a trip down memory lane with my first two.
(yes, this is one of those crazy-dog-lady posts i warned you about in the beginning)

so george & looloo weren't always the massive 28 pounders they are now.  they were about 5 lbs. when they joined our family
(just like c & p would go on to be. . .)
 here are a few shots from their 'baby album'

 georgey's first boat ride
august '05

cuddling with daddy.  btw, this does not happen anymore.

 he was so little he couldn't support his "bat" ears - they would flop over from time to time
(he totes has the devil in his eye already)
 and he sooooo already owned me at this point.

6 months later, sweet miss looloo joined us.   i quickly took advantage of having another female in the house- lots o' pink!

george isn't so sure about the new addition. . .
new addition is most definitely not thrilled about george. . .

at first. . .

fast friends.
swoon.
they grow up so fast. . .
{looloo just turned 5 over the weekend!}

hug your babies all the time! (no matter how many legs they have)

post-vacay wrap-up

i was insanely spoiled this past weekend.

skied deer valley (enjoyable even for a complete novice like me!)

stayed at an amazing ski in/ski out condo.  if anyone is looking to stay out there, this place was great. . .

and check it out- there was even a room with bunks!

 apres ski at the talisker club (. . .and pre-ski. . . and while the real skiers continued to ski)
this place is ridic. and the servers were oh so accomodating with all of my requests, from the hot toddy to nurse my sore throat to the kid's menu chicken tenders and shirley temple to nurse my hangover.  i seriously heart the talisker club

spa at the st. regis.  so so so lovely.

dinners on main street at chimayo and wahso.

 do you hate me yet?  i mean, i sort of hate me.  this is just obnoxious.  but bear with me,  i'm getting to the point.  all of those luxuries were wonderful but i would trade them in a heartbeat for the laughs and silliness i shared with friends, mainly my bestie, CBC.
everyone is going through some "stuff" right now and the laughter truly made my heart happy.  thanks, team G.  and thanks CBC for adding yet another "pro" to the list.  'VERY patient ski instructor' looks good on there.
seems we get so caught up in the routine that we forget to laugh like this at times.  i hope march brings you ALL this kind of laughter, wherever you are.  it's my kind of heart-healthy.

so it's back to dirty diapers and scrubbing down highchairs. . .and the BEST hugs in the world.
{c & p, deer valley's got nothin' on you.}

faux pas tuesday

soooooo, you know that post-vacation depression i mentioned was a possibility?
yeah, well, it's totally happening!

i am feeling oh so very low right now because i just realized i haven't credited someone who i respect and admire tremendously.  i know i haven't revealed all the details of my fondue soiree yet but i cannot believe i didn't, first of all, recognize how large a part of inspiration the following invites were for our soiree, or secondly acknowledge how amazingly original and talented, not to mention sweet, kind and charming from head to toe, katharine of tallow studio is. . .

head on over and SWOON away.

please meet the "original" handsome farm animals in bow ties from the indominatable tallow studio.
i have been blown away with katharine's work ever since i saw her website two years ago and now i'm lucky enough to walk by her studio and drool over her windows quite often, and on a REALLY good day i get to see her toting her little angel around town.

my sincere apologies katharine and thank you for the inspiration!!!

night owls: baby edition!

hello my long lost lil hooters!

my apologies for the brief hiatus.  i was planning on blogging from my mini-vacay, but at the last moment i decided to leave my mac at home with my other precious babies.  it wouldn't feel right to bring my newest baby {lil hoot} along is i was leaving c & p and george and looloo behind. . . besides, i was too busy having SUCH. BIG. FUN.

but i'm so happy to be home.  i missed my girlies, and i missed lil hoot and all of YOU!

typically i would enter a severe post -vacation depression about now but luckily, i have something very special to celebrate this weekend.  it's a "sprinkle" for a dear friend who has waited a VERY long time to meet her new little man. . . he will be here soon and i cannot wait to shower both unborn baby and mama with love.  in honor of them, this week is all about the babes.

hence, night owls: baby edition!

this is one my the most stunning nurseries i have ever seen, and it belongs to one lucky baby who's mama has a to-die-for blog and business, to boot.
i could spend HOURS perusing this glorious site. (oops!  i just did. . . i'm sure i'll get around to unpacking at some point)

check out sweet vivi's insanely well-executed digs. . .

love love this idea for the family tree - this room has HEART!  and then some

here's a closer look

you must rush on over to laybabylay if you have wee ones, are expecting, know someone who is, or just get a kick out of looking at fantastically beautiful things!  joni has really nailed it with her amazing blog - she has awesome ideas and super inspiring images. (not to mention the DIY tips!)  and if you're not completely swooned out , check out her other site chocolatebutterbean.com, it's all a bit too much for me to handle on my first day back at it.

i plan on printing out these 'sanity savers'  and giving them to my sweet friend this weekend.  love, love, LOVE!  wish i had them on hand when c & p were fresh out of the oven.

i'm also going to refer to my gift guide from december over at uber-talented miss lucinda's glitter, glue & fireflies.  but i can't give too much away- the expectant mama might be reading!

and by the way, folks, i didn't break anything! {except maybe some personal cocktail consumption at high altitude records. . .}
glad to be back. . . happy tuesday!
